Bengaluru, India (CU) _ Apollo Cancer Centers (ACC), India’s leading private cancer hospital, hosted a Live Interactive Robotic Colorectal Surgery workshop in Bengaluru with the goal of demonstrating its unmatched excellency. Dr Narasimhaiah Srinivasaiah, Senior Consultant, Colorectal Oncology and Robotic Surgery, and Dr Venkatesh Munikrishnan, Senior Consultant, Colorectal Surgery, successfully conducted the inaugural live surgery workshop. The interactive session demonstrated the supreme skills of Apollo’s veteran surgeons, who have done the most Robotic Colorectal Surgeries in India.
Dr Venkatesh Munikrishnan, who is recognized for doing the most robotic colorectal procedures in India, and Dr Narasimhaiah Srinivasaih conducted the Low Anterior Resection with a potential defunctioning Loop Ileostomy. The patient was a 30-year-old Hoogli man with rectal symptoms and locally progressed malignancy in the mid rectal region. With signet cells, the cancer was mutinous. He had sperm preservation, a brief course of radiation, and three cycles of chemotherapy after a detailed assessment of his case with the tumor board.
Dr Narasimhaiah explained about the successful Robotic Colorectal Surgeries. He said, “The surgery performed on the patient was delicate and complex given the rectal symptoms and progression to an advanced stage. The mucinous and signet cells posed another challenge for his treatment. In this case, we held a Tumor Board to decide on the right approach and treatment for the patient. At Apollo, we have advanced Robot Assisted surgery that involves minimal invasive techniques that result in faster recovery and shorter hospital stays following the treatment.
