UK records another 5,379 coronavirus cases, 112 deaths

-

There was another spike seen in the corona virus positive cases in Britain as 5,379 people have tested positive for the virus. This now brings the total number of coronavirus cases in the country to 4,307,304, according to the official figures. Britain has also reported another 112 Corona virus related death, this brings the total number of death due to the Corona virus to a total of 126,284. Bearing in mind that these numbers only include the death of all the people who died within 28 days of their first positive test.

On Tuesday Britain marked a year since the first lockdown was announced by Boris Johnson. In honor of that a national minute of silence was held at midday as reflection of the past year. Earlier on that same day Chris Whitty England’s chief medical officer said that there will be another surge in infection as the country struggles to recover from this current wave.

Mr. Whitty said at the Public Health Conference 2021 “There are going to be lots of bumps and twists on the road from here on in…There will definitely be another surge at some point whether it’s before winter or next winter, we don’t know. Variants are going to cause problems, there will be stock outs of vaccines and no doubt there will be multiple problems at a national level but also at a local level — school outbreaks, prison outbreaks, all those things that people are dealing with on a day-to-day basis. However, the path from here on in does look better than the last year,”

It was on the 22nd of February that Prime Minister Johnson made the announcement of his roadmap to exiting the lockdown. Which was the 3rd one since the start of the pandemic.
