Share

While we have women tearing other women down and fighting over crowns, we also have women like Ranjula Herath who has helped other girls find and fit their crowns no matter what the circumstance. Today we feature the dynamic and talented young lady who has taken the fashion world by storm with her everybody is a beautiful body outlook on life and is making clothes for everyone to enjoy without feeling insecure. Feeling beautiful in the body that you have is her goal and as we speak more with her we understand why she does what she does.

Going back to where it began Ranjula has always known that she wanted to be a fashion entrepreneur from a young age as she was drawn to dressing differently and finding her own style. But it was in due time that Ranjula came to the realization that whatever she wore had some power and confidence that radiated other girls to be inspired to be themselves with what they wore.

Inspiration come to Ranjula in the most everyday regular things may it be a song she has heard, a movie she has watched or even the observation of women wearing clothes confidently. Every collection she has done has its own element of inspiration, it’s usually a situation or something that had caught her eye.

There is always someone you can look up to and there is usually a reason why. Ranjula looks up to national as well as international female entrepreneurs in the industry. In her views the local industry has a long way to go in terms on the mission that is body positive fashion but she said that “I personally want to promote through my brand which is to create a platform to build confidence and to create a fashion and retail industry that promotes more body positivity, inclusivity and representation. Compared to the international fashion industry we have a long way to go. Ashley Graham & Rihanna Fenty are few female entrepreneurs that I really look up to”

The next thing we ask is what’s next for this bold girl. We get the simplest answer which is quoted “Helping more individuals to embrace their bodies, minds and souls promoting my mission. Flabulous to have more international visibility and to take my story global. I want to create more impact in the industry.”

Whiles Ranjula is making waves in the local industry we have to know how she feels about international fashion. She stated that “International fashion is a source of inspiration to me. It’s how each one of us create our own style by what we see and hear. I think it’s important as a local brand to also push our brand’s mission globally to put Sri Lanka on the global map of fashion.”

Finally we ask this queen if there was one thing she could change in the local industry and what it would be – she simply stated that she would change the way people saw body positivity. She would love to see the industry embrace what they advocate.
