Los Angeles, USA (CU)_ Arizona State University is taking yet another initiative towards its new ASU California center in downtown Los Angeles. The university announced the launch of its top 10 Master of Science in Business Analytics degree programs in the W P. Carey School of Business in the fall of 2021. This program is now accepting applications for the first batch of students as part of the inaugural class for ASU students located in California.

The ASU California Center is based in the famous Los Angeles Herald Examiner building, which was completed in 1914 by William Randolph Hearst. ASU’s new location in California, which is expected to open in August, will feature classrooms, conference halls, group event venues, and more. Apart from the W. P. Carey School, the ASU California Center will house over 15 academic colleges and administrative units, including the newly named Sidney Poitier New American Film School.

The MS-BA degree was founded in 2013 by the W. P. Carey School due to the industry demand for an intensive data analytics master’s degree. According to US News & World Report, the degree program has attracted thousands of students from around the country and around the world over the years because of its market-driven curriculum, the prestige of the W. P. Carey School’s departments of information technology and supply chain management, and ASU’s reputation and rank as the most innovative university in the country over the six years in a row.

Owing to the degree program’s longstanding excellence, the W. P. Carey School was rated number ten in the country for business analytics graduate courses in the 2022 Best Graduate School rankings, which were also published by U.S. News & World Report, apart from UCLA, USC, and Loyola Marymount University. In the most recent rankings, U.S. News placed 30 W. P. Carey programs and disciplines in the top 25, the most of any business school in the nation.

Amy Ostrom, interim dean of the W. P. Carey School of Business and the PetSmart Chair in Services Leadership said, “We are always so honored to be included among our peers as one of the best business schools in America. That’s especially true with a field as important and competitive as business analytics”. She added, “As we expand the program to offer a solution for students in Southern California that is not only closer to home but also designed to accommodate the busy schedules of working professionals, we’re extremely proud of what the MS-BA has achieved so far and excited about its future in downtown LA.”

The 12-month duration degree program will be provided on a weekly basis that is flexible. Students can attend classes through ASU Sync, an asynchronous, technology-enhanced, and fully immersive remote learning method that comprises live lectures through Zoom technology, during Wednesday evenings from 6 to 10 pm. Live classes will be conducted at the ASU California Center for two consecutive Saturdays from 8 am to 5 pm every quarter, i.e., in August, October, January, March, and June. Students will have the freedom to complete coursework individually due to the combination of virtual and live learning, as well as it builds the teamwork and communication skills required to succeed in the global economy.

As reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the demand for data scientists is projected to rise 15%, which is much faster than other sectors, by the end of the decade. W. P. Carey Career Management and Employer Engagement will also assist MS-BA degree students in Los Angeles. MS-BA graduates were hired by Amazon.com, Avnet, Dell, Deloitte, and Goldman Sachs, etc., after graduation in 2020. The MS-BA degree program in Los Angeles is now accepting applications.
