Princess Kate wowed royal fans at King Charles III’s Coronation using her stunning gown and accessories to pay touching tribute to Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana.
The Princess of Wales looked regal in a brilliant embroidered white silk gown by Alexander McQueen. She wore a deep blue Royal Victorian Order mantle over the dress, which was edged in scarlet. Adding to this ensemble the Princess wore a pair of pearl and diamond earrings that once belonged to Princess Diana, honouring her mother-in-law who was the last person to hold the title Princess of Wales before her. She also paid tribute to Queen Elizabeth with the George VI Festoon Necklace with 3 strands of diamonds. The necklace was a poignant tribute to the late monarch. It was commissioned in 1950, by King George VI for his daughter the then Princess Elizabeth.

Both the Prince and Princess of Wales wore formal robes and mantels, but none of the royals attending the Coronation wore tiaras at the request of the King and Queen. The Princess of Wales opted instead for a crystal and silver threadwork three-dimensional leaf embroidery headdress which was designed by Jess Collett in collaboration with Alexander McQueen.
A number of hidden details were contained in the Princess of Wales’s outfit, which symbolized her commitment to her country.
Princess Kate’s dress featured silver bullion and threadwork embroidery, incorporating motifs representing the four nations of the United Kingdom : roses symbolizing England, thistles for Scotland, daffodils for Wales and shamrocks for Wales. Princess Kate wore a formal blue cape with an ivory dress designed by Alexander McQueen, under it.
The headpiece Princess Kate wore was an embroidered silver circlet of three-dimensional leaves which seemed to be a reference to the ancient figure from British folklore, the Green Man, included on the official invitation to the Coronation. It is no doubt a tribute to the King’s passion for the environment and love of nature.

Colours are of particular significance to The Princess of Wales who sported the colours of the Union Jack, the British flag in her outfit at King Charles III’s Coronation which took place in Westminster Abbey. The Princess of Wales is entitled to wear the Grand Cross Mantles of the Royal Victorian Order since she was made a Dame Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order by the late Queen Elizabeth in 2019. She wore a robe made from dark blue silk satin, over her gown. Her floor-length cloak was lined with white silk taffeta and edged with scarlet, with a hood and a hand-embroidered badge attached to the right shoulder.

The young Princess Charlotte wore an Ivory Alexander McQueen dress that featured the same flower motifs worn with a silver bullion, crystal and silver thread headpiece created by the same milliner as her mother. The young Princess completed her outfit with a pair of Siena Strap Shoes from Papouelli London. The company creates children’s footwear that is classical with a modern twist.

The shoes featured a strap across the top which closes with a silver buckle, and was finished with a rounded toe. The outfit was completed with a small bracelet.
