Traffic arrangements for Grenada’s Independence celebration.

Commonwealth _ The Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF) has announced comprehensive traffic arrangements for the Independence celebrations scheduled at the National Cricket Stadium today. These arrangements aim to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic and ensure the safety and convenience of all participants and attendees. Effective from 8 am until the conclusion of the event, it is strongly recommended for motorists to follow specific guidelines regarding entrance routes to the National Stadium. All vehicular traffic intending to access the stadium premises must exclusively utilize the Queen’s Park Ring Road. Access to this road is granted from its intersection points with Cherry Hill or Mt Rush, both situated in St George.

Notably, the usual entry point via the Green Bridge will be inaccessible to vehicular traffic during this period. Therefore, motorists are advised to plan their routes accordingly and adhere to these designated entry points to ensure smooth access to the National Stadium.

Restrictions: Vehicular traffic via the Humpback Bridge will be restricted to accommodate VIPs/Dignitaries and persons with special permits from the National Celebration Committee.

Restricted Areas: The following areas will be off-limits to vehicular traffic:

Old Fort public road from its junction with Lucas Street.

Cemetery Hill from its junction with Church Street.

Humpback Bridge from its junction with River Road.

The Ring Road from its junction with Mt Rush Public Road towards the direction of the Humpback Bridge.

Public Parking: Attendees can utilize public parking areas located at various points:

Concrete area car park at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium.

Warm-up track at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium (for performers).

Upper level of the Bus Terminal.

Back of Old Andall Supermarket.

Ariza Car Park.

Bruce Street Mall Car Park.

Tanteen Playing Field.

Old Trafford Playing Field.

Grand Mal Playing Field.

Shuttle System: A shuttle system will be operational to transport attendees to the National Stadium. Specific parking recommendations are provided based on the attendees’ location, encouraging utilization of designated parking areas at Tanteen, Old Trafford Playing Fields, Grand Mal Playing Field, and St George’s Bus Terminal.

VIP Parking: VIP parking will be allocated on the River Road side of the National Stadium. Access to the VIP parking area will be via the Humpback Bridge, with a sharp left turn upon exiting the bridge onto the parking lot.

No Parking Zones: The following areas are designated as no-parking zones:

Melville Street from the Fish Market to Keep Left.

From Keep Left to Cherry Hill, including Queens Park Public Road.

Cemetery Hill intersection with River Road to Purcell’s lumber yard.

Left side of the stadium ring towards the Darbeau direction.

Mt Rush public road from its intersection with Stadium Ring Road to the beginning of the hill.

Fireworks Display: Queens Park Playing Field will be utilized for the fireworks display. Overflow parking, if required, will be arranged on one side of the Stadium Ring Road opposite to Petrocarib and Grenlec.

Upon the conclusion of the event, the following roads will be designated as one-way:

River Road public road towards the direction of De Caul roundabout.

Mount Rush public road in the direction of Mt Gay.

Motley Hill will be one-way in the direction of Sans Souci.

In case of emergencies, all emergency vehicles will travel along Cemetery Hill, Church Street, Grand Etang Road, onto the General Hospital. These traffic arrangements are implemented to ensure the safety and efficiency of Independence Day celebrations. Motorists and attendees are urged to cooperate with the RGPF and follow the instructions provided for a successful and enjoyable event.
