Completing higher education courses is a challenge for SA students

SOUTH AFRICA (CU) – Education, weather private or public, does not mean much if the students are struggling.  Many countries and their education sector find that children tend to struggle throughout their education journey and if proper steps are not taken to ensure that the right solutions are provided children may end up dropping out of school or making a decision to not pursue higher studies.

Now this is a problem that South Africa is facing. It is one of the many challenges but the country is taking this as the most important one. Right now, the children in South Africa are facing one of two major problems. One is that the students in higher education do not complete their degrees or they do complete it but it takes a very long time.

Now the issue with the second part of the problem is that once they finish and it takes longer than needed the entry level job opening now have more qualifications and it becomes a vicious cycle of having to go back to school to take longer to get the needed qualification and then back to square one. This was one of the reason kids were then turning to unlawful ways to earn money.

The first part of the problem was much worse where they do not complete a degree at all. Which means they are now stuck in dead-end low-income jobs and are unhappy. But both parts of the problem lead to negative outcomes where one they either turn to a life of crime or two they get into a depressive state and choose to end their lives. Either way at the end what happens is that the system is blamed and that’s is what the system is trying to fix.

There needs to be some kind of action taken so that students finish their higher education and become a part of a working society. The youth is what a country needs to develop and South Africa as a country needs their youth to step up and take charge when their time comes. The education sector is looking into other avenues to help these students. They are looking into vocational training and mentorships, even government sponsored internships so that students will know what its like to have a steady job and hopefully find something that they love.

When a student’s finds their passion then it becomes easy to want to study for it. The sector is hoping by doing these programmes that students will find their career of choice and this would be the motivation they need to pursue their higher education.
