(Commonwealth Union) – Everyone has their reason to travel and that is one’s own prerogative. However, since of lately the industry has noticed that a lot of people who travel have stated that they are looking to calm their minds and find peace as we all live in fast-track world. This is all true as we go forward into the future our lives become more tech-based and very much on the fast track that one might forget or not find time to enjoy the little things in life.

So, they find a few days where they can take time off and go somewhere with minimal noise and live in peace before returning back to the rat race. This is where Japan has seen a lot growth in the sector as they have opened the door of their temples, which was initially for men of the cloth or pilgrims only, to tourists as well.

This is an experience to be lived where one will live like a monk and enjoy the peace it brings. They will have no technology on them, so no phone, no laptops no Wi-Fi. It is just you and your surroundings. Meals will be provided that is rich in nutrients, not fast food. There will be no carbonated drinks or caffeinated drinks available. The experience is to cleanse your body and give your mind peace.

There are also activities like daily meditation and yoga offered, which tourists take up, and enjoy the calmness it brings. It initially stated only in Japan as the Japanese government began to see a lot of young people falling into depression and resorting to things such a suicide because they lived a fast pace life. The government, with genuine concern, spoke to the people from temples and came up with this solution.

It made things a lot better for the younger generation. It was then that the word spread on social media about this temple stayings and how it brings about peace to those who need it. The Japanese tourism sector with the approval of the monks in the temples started to advertise this as an affordable experience for those who needed it and it took off like wild fire.
