Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_ Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, top Telugu cinema stars, got married in a magnificent yet intimate wedding held in the traditional city of Udaipur. The wedding, held at the opulent ITC Mementos Udaipur, soon became one of the most talked-about celebrity events of the year. To honor their cultural roots, the couple decided to celebrate their wedding with two distinct ceremonies on the same day. A traditional Telugu Hindu wedding was held in the morning, following Vijay’s family rituals. Later in the evening, the festivities continued with a Kodava-style ritual commemorating Rashmika’s Coorg heritage. The twin ceremonies provided an opportunity for both families to meaningfully commemorate their respective customs.

Pre-wedding events and guests

Wedding festivities began several days earlier, drawing close friends and members of the film industry from across India and abroad. Among those spotted in the city were filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga, actor Eesha Rebba, director Tharun Bhascker, and actor-director Rahul Ravindran. Fashion stylist Shravya Varma, a close friend of the couple, was also present for the celebrations. Vijay and Rashmika arrived in Udaipur earlier in the week along with their families. Vijay travelled from Hyderabad with a small group that included his brother, actor Anand Deverakonda. Pre-wedding events began shortly after their arrival and continued throughout the week. Although the couple kept most of the celebrations private, admirers were able to get a taste of the festivities through rare social media posts.

The sangeet ceremony

One of the highlights was the Sangeet ceremony. During the evening ceremony, Vijay’s mother gave Rashmika a set of traditional ancestral bangles. The gesture represented her warm welcome into the Deverakonda family and rapidly became one of the event’s most talked-about highlights. The following day was dedicated to the Mehendi and Haldi rites. A team of priests had already arrived in Udaipur to monitor the procedures and ensure that they were carried out in accordance with tradition.

Stunning outfits of the couple

For the wedding itself, the couple chose outfits from designer Anamika Khanna’s bridal collection. Rashmika donned a rust-colored sari with a vibrant crimson border and elaborate temple-inspired motifs woven into the cloth. Vijay completed her appearance in an ivory dhoti-style outfit with a vermillion angavastram draped over his shoulders. His outfit also included intricate designs inspired by woods and temples, which represented legacy, strength, and familial lineage. Both stars accessorized their wedding attire with customary gold jewelry. Vijay chose ear studs, stacked necklaces, a wrist bracelet, anklets, and a ring. Rashmika donned an exquisite eleven-piece ensemble that included a choker, jhumkas, mathapatti, nose pin, bangles, waist belt, and anklets.

The grand wedding

The wedding design team shared photos that captured several unforgettable moments. Rashmika came to the event in a traditional palki, also known as a doli, and was carried to the site while beaming brightly. In another scene, Vijay waited for her with a ceremonial sword, a ritual sign. The wedding also generated a lot of discussion online. Rashmika later published images from the ceremony on social media, and the post rapidly went viral, with over 24 million likes on Instagram. This reportedly made it the most-liked post by an Indian account on the platform, surpassing a previous record held by cricket star Virat Kohli after India’s victory in the 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. Vijay’s own wedding post also attracted massive attention, receiving more than 19 million likes.

Luxury hospitality

Industry sources say the wedding was organized on a grand scale. Reports suggest that a major OTT streaming platform covered the costs of the luxury venue, hospitality, and logistics, with the total estimated to exceed ₹200 million. The platform is also believed to be negotiating exclusive rights to broadcast or stream footage from the wedding. Additionally, Vijay personally arranged flight tickets for more than 50 friends and relatives attending the celebrations. The pre-wedding schedule included several relaxed and fun activities, such as a friendly cricket match, a Japanese-themed dinner decorated in pastel shades, and a poolside volleyball game with floating drink trays. At the same time, the pair ensured that traditional South Indian details were there, such as meals served on banana leaves and fresh coconut water for visitors.

A lavish reception

Following their wedding in Udaipur, the newlyweds hosted a lavish reception on March 4 at the stunning Taj Krishna Hotel. The event was attended by some of the biggest names in the film industry, including Allu Arjun, Chiranjeevi, Ram Charan, Rana Daggubati, Karan Johar, Kriti Sanon, and Mrunal Thakur. Several famous politicians, including Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, and Revanth Reddy, were invited but were absent at the reception. In a sweet gesture, the couple allegedly asked visitors not to bring presents, instead asking for their blessings as they began their married life.

From friends to life partners

Vijay and Rashmika have kept their romance hidden for years, despite regular fan speculation. They initially collaborated in the 2018 blockbuster film Geetha Govindam and then reconnected for Dear Comrade. Their on-screen connection rapidly made them a fan favorite, and they became fondly known as “Virosh.” In October 2025, the pair got engaged in a secret ceremony in Hyderabad. Only days before their wedding, they publicly declared their relationship and revealed that their festivities would be officially dubbed “The Wedding of Virosh,” after the moniker fans had given them years before.
