15,000 foreign visitors to this Tower…

-

Silhouetting Colombo’s skyline with its signature lotus tower, South Asia’s tallest completed tower stands high among the dusty clouds of the city sky, a monumental symbol of culture, development, and transformation.

The Colombo Lotus Tower recently welcomed its 15,000th foreign visitor since it opened to the public. The management of the Colombo Lotus Tower celebrated this milestone by awarding a special gift hamper courtesy of Akbar Brothers (a leading tea exporter in the country) to the selected tourists.

Since its initial inception in 2012, the Colombo Lotus Tower also known as the “Nelum Kuluna”, has steadily risen from a peduncle to a glittering eight-story edifice, adding character to the city of Colombo. The Lotus Tower officially opened its doors to the public on the 15th of September 2022, introducing a novel experience and attraction within the city for locals and tourists alike.

The exterior of the Lotus Tower is a modern architectural homage to the ancient motifs and cultural art forms stemming from the island’s heritage, while its interior is a state-of-the-art experience that transcends the visitor to a new era of technology and innovation. Aligning heritage with modernism, the Lotus Tower is a hotspot for tourists anticipating a thrill, a refresher, and a novel experience, all at the same time.

The 19th tallest completed tower in the world, the Lotus Tower offers eight different experiences on each story. A food court, souvenir shop, art exhibition galleries, banquet halls, conference halls, a restaurant banquet hall, a revolving restaurant, and six luxury suites are only a few of the amenities expected at the Lotus Tower. Visitors are truly in for a treat as the well-rounded establishment also treats visitors to a 5G Innovation Centre inclusive of VR experiences, an Esports hub, a 9D cinema, a digital art museum, and a coffee lounge. The highlight of entering the Lotus Tower however is the stunning panoramic view of the city that one could experience either at the indoor observation deck or at the main observation deck on the 7th floor.

A must-see destination in the heart of Colombo, tickets are priced at Rs 500 for Sri Lankan adults and Rs 200 for children aged 3 to 10 years while children below the age of 3 receive a complimentary pass. Tickets for adult foreign visitors are priced at USD $20 while only foreign children aged 3 to 10 are required to purchase a ticket for USD$10.

Illuminating Colombo during the day as the sun taps the Tower’s soft shade of Lotus pink, and bringing out the true personality of the spirited city at night, the Lotus Tower has completely transformed the city landscape to portray the birth of a rapidly developing metropolis in a land of historical mystique.
