working around the clock on a resolution to have the three-time All-Star return to Philadelphia. 76ers general manager Elton Brand, coach Doc Rivers and Paul have been in constant communication over the past few days regarding Simmons. Simmons has been wanting to return for a long time but with the pandemic happening and the multiple lockdowns taking place it proved to be difficult to get him to make the move and the trade.

Athlete’s especially good ones like Ben Simmons gets traded easily from one team to another without a lot of problems. But the issue here was that there other factors taking place that was making the trade near impossible.

The 25-year-old didn’t report to the start of training camp after his representation informed the 76ers in June that Simmons wanted a trade. In mid-July, the 76ers opened up trade conversations surrounding Simmons and engaged with interested teams. There will always be teams wanting to make trades and get younger players on their sides. But of course terms and conditions have to be agreed upon and sometimes the team that was a first choice for a player may not be the team he gets signed with.

Simmons has four years and $147 million remaining on his max contract. He has spent his entire career with the 76ers since they drafted him with the No. 1 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft.
