Mumbai (Commonwealth Union)_ The Tamil film Parking, directed by Ramkumar Balakrishnan, took home three top awards at the 71st National Film Awards: Best Tamil Film, Best Screenplay, and Best Supporting Actor for M.S. Bhaskar. Responding to the happy news, director Ramkumar took to social media to express his happiness. He posted a touching message on X. “I still can’t believe it,” he said in a video post. “I’m extremely happy to hear that Parking has won at the National Awards. A big thank you to the media and the public for supporting us, especially during a tough release time, when heavy rains and floods affected many areas. Even then, audiences turned up in theaters and later spread the word when the film hit OTT. That support has brought us here today.”

Veteran actor M.S. Bhaskar, honored with the award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Parking, also shared his emotions in a video message that’s now gaining attention on social media. Bhaskar said, “This is a moment I’ll never forget. Parking was a turning point in my career. It showed how something as small as a parking issue can turn into a major conflict, and it gave me a new recognition as an actor. The love I’ve received from the audience and now this award, it all means so much.”

Lead actor Harish Kalyan, who played the central role in the film, also took to social media to celebrate the wins. “Three National Awards for a film we poured our hearts into,” he wrote. “Congratulations to director Ramkumar for Best Screenplay and to our Bhaskar sir for Best Supporting Actor. Big thanks to our Tamil fans, our audience, the jury, and everyone who stood by us.”

Parking, a dark comedy-thriller released in 2023, explores how a seemingly minor dispute over car parking between two families escalates into a psychological standoff. The film’s strong performance in the box office, coupled with the actors’ excellent acting and a sharp, witty screenplay, worked well with the audiences. The cast includes Harish Kalyan, M.S. Bhaskar, and Indhuja Ravichandran. The film was produced by K.S. Sinish from Soldiers Factory and Sudhan Sundaram from Passion Studios.
