Shootings in Vienna

Vienna, Austria (CWBN)_ A shooters armed with assault rifles were reported to have open fired in six different locations in the Austrian capital, at 8pm (local time). Two people have been killed in the shootings, while 14 others have been hospitalized, six of whom are in critical condition.

The shootings had begun near the Seienstettengasse synagogue, which was closed at the time. The police officer assigned to guard the temple was also among the injured.

A major counter-terror operation was commenced subsequent to the incident, leading to the arrest of one suspect, however, the Ministry of Interior has noted that the actual number of shooters is unclear at this time.

The shootings were committed as people had flocked in local restaurants and pubs, which were expected to close till the end of November as a result of national level lockdown measures due to be implemented by the Austrian Government in an effort to contain growing Covid-19 infection rates.
