WASHINGTON DC, USA (CWBN)_ Late on Monday (Nov 2), Twitter and Facebook flagged posts by President Donald Trump which claimed that the US Supreme Court decision on voting in Pennsylvania “very dangerous.”

“The Supreme Court decision on voting in Pennsylvania is a VERY dangerous one,” Trump wrote on both platforms. “It will allow rampant and unchecked cheating and will undermine our entire systems of laws. It will also induce violence in the streets. Something must be done!”

Twitter hid the president’s tweet, behind a label which said the content was “disputed” and “might be misleading”, while Facebook posted a disclaimer saying that voting by mail and voting in person have a “history of trustworthiness” in the United States.

The US Supreme Court announced last week that the deadlines for receiving mail-in ballots in Pennsylvania and North Carolina will be extended by three days.

Meanwhile, the Trump campaign has repeatedly said, without evidence, that mail-in votes are prone to fraud, although election experts say that is rare in US elections.

According to the Election Integrity Partnership, even though Twitter’s action effectively stopped the spread of the Tweet sent the day before the US presidential election, however, it had already been retweeted more than 55,000 times and favorited more than 126,000 times.

Social Media companies are under pressure to curb misinformation ahead of the US Election, and Twitter has flagged tweets from the President multiple times this year for violating its rules.
