London, UK (CWBN)_ Former member of the Hong Kong Legislative Council, Ted Hui-fung, claimed on his Facebook page that some of this bank accounts had been unfrozen, and that he had transferred his funds out of HSBC accounts as the global bank may no longer be trusted.

His statement read, “Due to complete distrust of HSBC in Hong Kong, my family has immediately transferred their savings to some safe places.”

Hui-fung had claimed yesterday that accounts belonging to him, his wife and his parents had been frozen at Hang Seng Bank, HSBC and Bank of China. No further information in this regard was provided.

Following the Communist Party’s onslaught in Hong Kong, many pro-democracy activists and lawmakers like Hui-fung, were forced to flee the semi-autonomous region of China or face criminal charges and persecution.

Hui-fung resigned from his position in the Legislative Council in early November, alongside 18 other pro-democracy lawmakers, in protest of the dismissal of four peers, before fleeing Hong Kong for Denmark with his family parliamentarians and sought political asylum in the UK.
