“Make in India” project to counter China’s underwater force

NEW DELHI (CU)_The Defence Ministry of India approved one of the largest ‘Make in India’ projects which is aimed at strengthening the Navy’s underwater force and tackling China’s rapid expansion of submarine fleet. Accordingly, the country’s top procurement agency, the defence acquisition council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, approved the proposal for the ₹430 billion ($5.9 billion) project, and the navy is soon expected to issue requests for proposals for the programme, which is known as P-75 India.
