The poison of these dangerous spiders has been discovered to include a possibly life-saving medication for sufferers of heart attacks. According to the World Health Organization, cardiovascular disorders are one of the major causes of mortality across the world, resulting in 17.9 million deaths each year.

According to the researchers of University of Queensland, the poison of the deadliest Fraser Island funnel-web spider in eastern Australia has been identified to contain a potentially life-saving chemical, or peptide.
