Insect expert calls for a ban on all pesticides in UK gardens

LONDON (CU)_A recent study published by international scientific journal Nature Portfolio revealed that the international community may have underestimated the impact of agrochemicals on bees, as a meta-analysis on the matter found that a further decline in population of the pollinators could be expected, if the issue is not addressed, and may have significant knock-on effects on global food production. Many countries around the world have already taken measures to protect insects, particularly by restricting the use of pesticides and herbicides. In 2017, the government of France banned the use of synthetic pesticides in public spaces and this ban was extended to garden use in 2019. In Canada, 170 cities and towns are already pesticide-free.
