Police, govt. officials minting money in illegal sand mining

PATNA, Bihar (CU)_Over the recent years, there has been a significant rise in illegal sand mining activities across several parts of India. Authorities say that the industry has grown exponentially owing to the spurt in construction and urban expansion, and apart from the adverse effects it has on the environment, the criminal activities are also causing loss to the state exchequer since mined minerals are often being smuggled into other states.
