German biotech company to partner with Rwanda

BERLIN (CU)_During the past week, COVID-19 vaccinations in the Africa tripled to 13 million doses as donations of vaccines increased from developed nations. However, this still remains a drop in an ocean in a region home to 1.3 billion people, of which only 2.4 per cent has been vaccinated so far. Therefore, with the aim of setting up a sustainable Coronavirus vaccine manufacturing programme in the African continent, the government officials of Rwanda and Senegal met with the top executives of German biotechnology company BioNTech. The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen also participated in the meeting that was held in Berlin on Friday (27 August).
