National Test House to foray into nanotechnology market

Kolkata, India (CU)_ The National Test House (NTH), an industrial testing facility operated by the state, announced that it plans to enter the nanotechnology market with products such as cosmetics, electronic consumer goods, and home digital appliances. According to a press statement released by the government, NTH aims to build a Nano material testing laboratory to aid in the analysis of the hazards linked with such goods.

NTH announced the diversification of its services in various fields. It said, “The NTH is expanding its testing services for packaged drinking water, e-vehicle battery testing services, and LED lamps testing services and testing of solar panels, supporting a large number of Government of India programmes”.

Whether it is a little product such as a pen or a scientific product such as a transformer, the testing agency is assisting the MSME industry and sellers on the GEM portal in providing standard, inspected goods to purchasing organizations. According to NTH Director General Dr. P Kanjilal, NTH laboratories receive around 25,000 samples each year for quality assurance, with nearly 60% coming from government organizations, 20%-25% coming from private agencies, and 15%-25% coming from individuals.

NTH also announced that it will give scholarships to deserving Engineering and M.Sc. students. It highlighted the scholarship provided for the program. It said, “In this regard, an amount of Rs 25,000 per annum per student for undertaking research in the field of NanoTechnology, electrical short-circuit technology, food safety, civil engineering vibrations study of bridges and buildings will be given scholarship”.
