Cancer patients struggle to get the needed treatment!

UGANDA AFRICA – Things seemed to be getting worse for the cancer patients in Uganda as resources are either running out or are not being made use of as they are supposed to be. For the last few weeks there has been investigations going on in several hospitals regarding the supposed reason for the accusation that cancer patients are left to sleep outside the hospitals.

The reasons that were uncovered were truly shocking. It seems that the doctors have been over worked and under paid. The doctors are seeing a record amount of patience in a day and there aren’t enough resources to cover all of them. Because of the gross misconduct and corruption, the patients and the caregivers are suffering for adequate care.

Because of the lack of the needed care patients are dying daily. The struggle of getting the needed treatment in public hospitals are beyond impossible. One of the biggest problems is poor health care and there isn’t much the hospital staff can do about it.

The national referral hospital that was built in 2014 at about Shs 42.9 billion and officially opened to the public in 2016, Kawempe hospital boasts top-notch equipment and services, which include; quality health care in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Adolescent health, HIV/Aids care, Research, and Medical Trainings. This was done so that patients could receiver better care. But it doesn’t look like this plan is working.

All hospitals that have been opened in the last 10 years that were supposedly the best built and equipped have gone to waste. The corruption has taken a toll on these buildings and the facilities they provide. In the end of it all it will be the people who need this care the most that suffer.

Its not only cancer patients who are suffering this fate but also other seriously ill patients as well as pregnant and expectant mothers. These people already suffering and now have to endure more discomfort than necessary as they have to find places to sleep on the floor outside.
