Amazon’s annual fall hardware event will take place on September 28

-

The annual hardware event from Amazon will take place on September 28 at 9 a.m. Pacific Time. The announcement was brief, and the email made no hint of what will be discussed in detail, though it did state that the major focus will be on new products, functions, and services.

The event from the previous year had an amazing variety of announcements. Along with the Echo Show 15 and Amazon Smart Thermostat, the e-commerce behemoth also unveiled Astro, a strange yet endearing robot that essentially functions as a mobile smart display. Even though there haven’t been many rumors about this year’s showcase, we have some theories about what Amazon might present at the fall event.

Particularly the Echo Dot, Amazon is likely to be included. A hardware update that offers higher sound quality and support for Dolby Atmos would be welcome in 2022 after the lineup underwent a redesign in 2020. A smart thermostat announcement also makes sense given that Amazon may introduce a product with built-in Alexa voice command functionality. And even though Astro made its debut at the event the year before, the peculiar product was never widely distributed to the general public. On September 28, if we’re lucky, that might change.

We’ll just have to wait and see what’s announced next week as Amazon is likely not going to provide any additional information about the Devices & Services event. Only those who have been invited may attend the showcase, which is entirely virtual. There are certain to be a few major announcements, so be sure to come back on September 28 for a complete list of disclosures.
