South Africa vs Bangladesh

(Commonwealth Union)_Remember when South Africa was unable to qualify last year because of their low NRR? Looks like this year they’re all geared up to conquer!

Rilee Rossouw scored his first century of the series so far, leading South Africa to a magnificent 104 run victory against Bangladesh at the Sydney Cricket Ground. This was supported with Quinton De Kock’s 63 runs making it the second-highest partnership in the history of the tournament.

Even though Bangladesh seemed to be doing well at the start of the second innings, with the daunting task to chase a whopping 206, their defence mechanism crumbled after Nortje’s three wicket haul. Nortje finished with a 4-10 which were his best T20i figures, whilst Tabraiz Shamsi had three wickets in his bag.

It’s like the South African team was on fire. Who knew Bavuma’s wicket in the first over would lead De Kock and Rossouw to power through, making it rain runs at SCG. Even the SA bowlers did amazing and the entire performance was a treat to the eyes.

Despite South Africa’s spectacular performance, it was a major down day for Bangladesh – being bowled out at 101, this is the worst defeat they’ve had to face in this format. Even though they were off to a good start in the second innings with two sixes by Sarkar in the first over, their aggression ended rapidly with Nortje’s four wicket haul.

The game was both a treat to watch and quite painful. SA dominated from the start, but here’s hoping for a super comeback by Bangladesh in the next match.
