Towards a stronger Sri Lankan role in the Commonwealth

The Hon Nirj Deva-Aditya Presidential Envoy to the Commonwealth received the Rt Hon Baroness Patricia Scotland Secretary General of the Commonwealth at his residence for a dinner to discuss the role of Sri Lanka in a stronger Commonwealth.

The discussion included the role of the Commonwealth as an instrument for peace through Cricket with ” Peace at the Crease” with the world’s best cricketers participating.

The promotion of a Climate University in Sri Lanka, and the need to bring the Commonwealth members closer together through an “ever closer union” through the CommonwealthUnion.com as the European Union has done.

To create more Commonwealth Associations to promote harmonisation of qualifications, standards of professional and commercial best practice, Internet security, create a Commonwealth wide Cyber security Association similar to the Commonwealth Hotels, Schools, Ports and Airlines Associations and add to the exiting ” Commonwealth Advantage” which makes intra Commonwealth trade 21 percent cheaper than non Commonwealth trade and to make the Green Commonwealth a reality.
