Apologies from Buhari over the naira crisis

Nigeria  ( Commonwealth Union ) _ Former president Major General Muhammadu Buhari has apologized to Nigerians for the financial hardship brought on by the federal government’s naira redesign program. The apology followed the All Progressives Congress’ appalling showing in Kaduna state’s presidential and national assembly elections on Saturday. The president pleaded with the residents of Kaduna State to support Senator Uba Sani, the APC’s nominee for governor in that state, in the upcoming election.

Buhari claims that the naira redesign policy is never intended to put Nigerians through extreme hardship.

The President said that the Central Bank’s monetary policy was only intended to strengthen the economy in a viral Hausa video that our correspondent seen in Kaduna. Bihari further stated that “First of all, I want to thank you once more for your support in electing me the president on the platform of our party, the APC.”

“I apologize for the inconvenience the Naira change has brought you. Not to put anyone through hardship, but to strengthen the nation’s economy.I urge you to support Senator Uba Sani and all of our APC candidates for the state legislature because Kaduna is where I live. Moreover I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that Uba Sani is our nominee for governor of Kaduna state. To support him in his work, please cast your vote for him and other APC House of Assembly candidates.

Moreover, Uba is a key player on this adventure. He showed capability and competence while we were colleagues in the Senate. He will outperform expectations. I call Kaduna my home. I thus implore you to support Uba Sani and all of our APC State Assembly candidates.

In the meantime, negotiations for an alliance between the Labour Party and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party to seize power in Kaduna State were ongoing. Felix Hyet, the chairman of the PDP in Kaduna State and a former minister of aviation, has urged the state’s residents to band together and oust the APC administration by supporting Isa Ashiru for governor.
