AFRICA  ( Commonwealth Union) _ Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of Vietnam, Nguyen Quoc Tri, held a working session with his Mozambican counterpart, Olegário dos Anjos Banze, in Maputo to discuss bilateral farming cooperation projects and future prospects for collaboration.

Agriculture forms the backbone of many economies worldwide, and the significance of international collaborations in this sector cannot be overstated. In recent years, Mozambique and Vietnam have recognized the potential of closer agricultural relations and have taken significant steps to establish a partnership that benefits both nations. This article explores the motivations behind this collaboration, the key areas of focus, and the potential impact on their respective agricultural sectors.

During the meeting on May 29, Tri informed Banze that Vietnam and Mozambique have been collaborating in researching and developing food crops. Vietnam has provided support to Mozambique by sending experts and technicians to assist in various agricultural initiatives. Tri expressed his hope that such joint efforts would be expanded, leveraging the agricultural strengths of both countries for mutual growth.

Banze expressed gratitude for Vietnam’s assistance to Mozambique not only in agriculture but also in education, health, and telecommunications. He praised the effective support of Vietnamese experts and expressed a desire to learn from Vietnam’s agricultural experiences, particularly in cashew product processing, irrigation, and drainage system construction and management, utilization of food crops for animal feed, and dairy industry development.

Tri assured Mozambique that Vietnam is willing to provide assistance and share experiences in farming, processing, production, commercial product development, and the enhancement of product quality.

He emphasized the importance of irrigation, varieties, and farming methods as key factors in this cooperation.

The Vietnamese deputy minister, who was visiting Mozambique to attend and chair the fourth meeting of the Vietnam-Mozambique Intergovernmental Committee, highlighted that farming cooperation is a crucial topic on the agenda of the event.
