In the initial scene, keen eyes caught the abrupt ending, attributed to the blurring of Florence Pugh’s bare back. Yet, it was in the subsequent scene where the most significant alteration took place. Sharp-eyed fans noticed Florence portrayed nude but cleverly veiled by a “black dress.” The reason behind this change remains speculative, with no official confirmation or statement from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).
Oppenheimer faced criticism in India for its inclusion of a sex scene intertwined with the Bhagavad Gita. Uday Mahurkar, representing the Save Culture Save India Foundation, expressed discontent, citing religious sentiments that were offended. The Foundation called on the I&B ministry to take action, contending that certain scenes attacked Hinduism, specifically highlighting a moment where a woman has a man recite the Bhagwad Geeta during sexual intercourse. The Foundation’s statement urged the ministry to uphold the dignity of the revered holy book of the Hindus and to ensure measures are taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
