Europe UK (Commonwealth Union) – The grand unveiling of a brand-new health and community hub, funded at £1.3 million, heralds great news for a diverse range of individuals and groups in Dungannon a town in the County of Tyrone, including sports enthusiasts, musicians, dancers, community organizations, and schools.
This cutting-edge facility, dedicated to enhancing the well-being and promoting health in the local community, was made possible through a substantial investment of £973,000 from the Department for Communities. Thomas Clarke’s Gaelic Football Club, demonstrating its commitment to the project, also made a significant contribution of nearly £328,000.
At the official inauguration of this remarkable hub, Emer Morelli, Deputy Secretary of the Department for Communities, expressed her enthusiasm for the increased opportunities it would provide to the people of Dungannon and its neighboring areas. She emphasized the satisfaction of witnessing a visionary concept come to fruition and commended all those who dedicated their time, effort, and unwavering commitment to reaching this milestone.
Emer also said “One of the Department’s strategic objectives is to help develop our communities, build confidence and improve the quality of life for people living in local areas. I believe this health and community hub ticks all those boxes.”
“Not only will it provide new opportunities for young people and encourage a greater participation in sport, physical activity and community and cultural initiatives, it will also benefit people of all ages, abilities and genders through a range of outreach activities.”
The primary objective of this new hub is to enhance social conditions by efficiently coordinating a variety of community-based activities, all while accommodating a diverse spectrum of groups. This includes football and hurling enthusiasts, musicians, dancers, community organizations, and the local schools.
The Mid Ulster District Council took the lead in spearheading this project, acting on behalf of Thomas Clarke’s, and received valuable support from the Dungannon Neighbourhood Renewal Partnership.
