A new version of “Blue Christmas” has been authorized for release by the Presley estate. It pairs the King of Rock and Roll’s original vocal with Kane Brown, current country star. (Brown recorded a solo version of the song in 2022).

Earlier this month, the Beatles released their first top 10 hit in 27 years, ‘Now and Then.’

And of course, there’s more of a tie-in. The new version of the Christmas classic has been released in advance of a TV special honoring Elvis Presley and celebrating the winter holiday. Christmas at Graceland is scheduled to air on NBC on 29th November while Brown, who is among the featured artists, will perform his virtual duet with Elvis on the show.

This is not the first time that Presley’s music has been reworked and re-released with other collaborators. As Forbes noted, there’s even been a previous posthumous duet of “Blue Christmas” with Martina McBride.

Presley first issued “Blue Christmas” on his  release Elvis’ Christmas Album in1957, which topped the Billboard album chart for four non-consecutive weeks, beginning on the chart dated 16th December of that year.

Brandon McPhee dedicates Christmas single ‘Merry Christmas Elvis’ to fans

United Kingdom (Commonwealth Union)_  27-year-old Brandon McPhee from Castletown shared the incredible story of how his latest hit came about.

Brandon is rising high in the UK Country iTunes chart with his latest composition, “Merry Christmas Elvis” which he dedicates to fans of the late singer.

Brandon had been a massive Elvis fan for as long as he could remember and said it was a real honour to write a song with James (McQueen) who was actually working in the very hospital that Elvis was rushed into back in 1977.

According to Brandon, James T McQueen (known to his friends as ‘Mac’) had written a song called Merry Christmas Elvis that he posted online and was looking for people to record it. The young Scottish musician took a liking to the song but felt that he could make it his own by rewriting a lot of it and changing the melodies.
