Chennai (Commonwealth Union)_ Chennai International Airport witnessed a buzz of excitement as superstar Rajinikanth, fresh from a pilgrimage trip to the Himalayas, shared insights on two highly anticipated films, his own ‘Vettaiyan‘ and Kamal Haasan’s recent movie release ‘Indian 2‘. The megastar, known for his candid manner, spoke to the media on his return, offering glimpses into the cinematic worlds he lives in.

As the superstar entered through the airport corridors, he was welcomed by a crowd of fans to whom Rajinikanth waved at and posed for impromptu selfies, highlighting his enduring popularity. Amidst this fanfare, he graciously commented on Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2, directed by S Shankar. The sequel to the acclaimed 1996 ‘Indian’ franchise, the film features an impressive cast including Haasan himself, Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, Priya Bhavani Shankar, and Kajal Aggarwal among others. Accordingly, Rajinikanth’s verdict on the film was short and positive. He simply said, “It’s good.” He then added, “Indian 2 is turning out well, and we are still in the process of working on Vettaiyan”.

Regarding his own project, ‘Vettaiyan’, touted as his 170th cinematic venture, Rajinikanth shared updates eagerly awaited by his crowd of fans. He remarked, “The shooting is progressing well,” indicating an active production phase. Directed by TJ Gnanavel, known for ‘Jai Bhim’, and produced by Lyca Productions, ‘Vettaiyan’ promises to be a visual spectacle with a star-studded cast that includes Amitabh Bachchan, Fahadh Faasil, and Rana Daggubati alongside leading ladies Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, and Dushara Vijayan. He added, “Vettaiyan’ will be released for Dussehra. I have completed my portions. The shooting with other members of the cast is still going on. The film will be released on October 10 or so.”
