Africa (Commonwealth Union) _ On Tuesday, the Renewed Hope Family in Rivers State organized a solidarity walk through Port Harcourt to express their support for President Bola Tinubu and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

During the event, Tony Okocha, former APC Caretaker Committee Chairman in Rivers State and second-in-command of the Renewed Hope Family, addressed the crowd. He urged Nigerians to remain patient with President Tinubu, assuring them that his policies would eventually uplift the nation.

“This gathering represents the Tinubu family in Rivers State, under the leadership of Nyesom Wike,” Okocha stated. He emphasized that Wike was fully aware of the demonstration and the commitment of his supporters to back the President. “Rome wasn’t built in a day,” Okocha remarked, highlighting the long-term benefits of Tinubu’s initiatives, such as the recently introduced student loan program.

Okocha defended the removal of fuel subsidies, a bold move by President Tinubu that was long overdue according to many, as it stopped the siphoning of national funds by a select few. He challenged Nigerians to question how local leaders are utilizing the increased revenues now available to them and encouraged trust in Tinubu’s vision for the country.

Accusing Governor Siminialayi Fubara of orchestrating recent anti-Tinubu protests in Rivers State, Okocha claimed that Fubara was the primary beneficiary of the unrest. He criticized the governor for allegedly manipulating the protests to his advantage while pretending to support the President.

Gift Worlu, a former commissioner who resigned amidst the political tensions in the state, echoed Okocha’s sentiments. He called on Nigerians to support Tinubu’s courageous efforts to steer the country back on the right track, arguing that previous leaders lacked the resolve to make such bold decisions.

Worlu praised Wike as a model leader whose record of performance spans his roles as a local government chairman, governor, and now as a Minister. He encouraged continued support for Wike, noting that his leadership puts people first and promising that Wike will continue to deliver for the people of Rivers State.
