UK (Commonwealth Union)_ A UK ticket holder has emerged as an overnight super-rich person, winning a staggering £177 million in the latest EuroMillions draw, making them the third-largest National Lottery winner of all time. As the winning numbers, 07, 11, 25, 31, and 40, with Lucky Stars 09 and 12, are revealed, players are being urged to check their tickets for the opportunity to claim this life-changing prize. This monumental win has propelled the lucky ticket holder into the ranks of the wealthiest individuals in the country, surpassing high-profile figures such as former One Direction member Harry Styles and heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua. The latest Sunday Times Rich List values both of these stars at £175 million. The jackpot, which follows close behind the record-breaking £184 million win by Joe and Jess Thwaite in May 2022, is now the third-largest National Lottery payout in history.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ adviser at Allwyn, the operator of the National Lottery, expressed his excitement over the win. Carter said, “Wow, it has been a truly incredible night for a single UK ticket holder who has scooped tonight’s jaw-dropping £177m EuroMillions jackpot!”. He added, “The win has landed them a spot on the National Lottery’s Rich List, as they have become the third biggest National Lottery winner of all time! What a wonderful win right before Christmas, and we cannot wait to pay out this amazing prize.” Furthermore, this latest winner is now in the rarefied company of those who have earned life-altering sums through the EuroMillions. On July 19, 2022, a UK ticket-holder set the previous record by winning £195 million, the largest EuroMillions jackpot to date. The Thwaites’ £184 million win in May 2022 was a close contender, setting a new benchmark at the time.

The EuroMillions jackpot has consistently produced some of the largest lottery wins in the UK’s history. Among the top 10 biggest winners are Colin and Chris Weir, who bagged £161 million in 2011, and Adrian and Gillian Bayford, who won £148 million in 2012. Each of these winners has had unique experiences, with some choosing to give back to their communities, like Colin Weir’s investment in Partick Thistle Football Club or the Bayfords’ purchase of a Grade II listed estate. The excitement surrounding this latest win has only heightened the anticipation for further prizes. Hence, the National Lottery advised all players to check their tickets since anyone could be the recipient of such a fortune.

Such generosity highlights the wide range of possibilities available to those who find themselves suddenly wealthier. As the hunt continues for the latest winner, the advice is clear: “Check now” to see if you hold the lucky lottery number. You may just be one of the next to join the ranks of the National Lottery’s biggest winners.
