Brunei (Commonwealth Union)_ During her recent visit to Seri Mulia Sarjana International School (SMSIS), Nahida Rahman Shumona, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Brunei Darussalam, explored the potential for further cooperation between Bangladesh and Brunei across various domains, including education and culture. The school’s principal, Chong Wee Meng, and the student council warmly greeted the High Commissioner.
The High Commissioner actively engaged with the students, captivating their attention by reading two books during the session. The first book, titled “Mujib,” portrayed the life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of Bangladesh, in a captivating graphic novel format. The second book, “The White Elephant,” shared a South Asian folklore emphasizing the values of compassion and empathy.

In the spirit of promoting literacy and goodwill, the High Commissioner also donated a collection of books to enrich the school library. This initiative aims to foster intellectual growth among students and improve their understanding of various cultures and experiences. Accordingly, the primary students of Seri Mulia Sarjana International School actively engaged in the interactive session, demonstrating their willingness to learn and engage with different perspectives. After the session, the High Commissioner was given a complete tour of the school premises, providing her with an opportunity to gain insights into the school’s educational environment.
