Africa (Commonwealth Union) ­­_ The Kenyan government will be the host of this year’s Africa Climate Week, which will take place from September 4–8, 2023, in Nairobi.  ACW 2023 will be held concurrently with the Africa Climate Summit, which will be held in Kenya from the 4–6 of September.

Ruwan Wijewardena, Senior Advisor to the President on Climate Change, met with Mr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Egypt, in a historic encounter at the African Climate Summit 2023. The gathering emphasised the growing significance of global cooperation in solving the urgent issues caused by climate change.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe asked Mr. Wijewardena to attend the conference, demonstrating Sri Lanka’s continuous support for international efforts to tackle climate change. The summit, which is being hosted in Nairobi, Kenya, has attracted attention from around the world as world leaders gather to map out a course for a more sustainable future.

In-depth discussions about the prospects for increased cooperation between Egypt and Sri Lanka in reducing the effects of climate change distinguished the meeting between Mr. Wijewardena and Prime Minister Madbouly. Both presidents reaffirmed their commitment to identifying ground-breaking remedies for global environmental problems.

Mr. Wijewardena also used the occasion to emphasise the proactive steps the Sri Lankan government has done to lessen the effects of climate change. These programmes highlight Sri Lanka’s dedication to sustainability and environmental management. The leaders looked into ways to improve trade ties between Egypt and Sri Lanka in an effort to deepen their partnership. Their conversations demonstrated a common goal of fostering economic growth and development through tactical cooperation. The fact that Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Mr. Kana Kananathan, attended the conference added to its diplomatic significance by reiterating the countries’ deep and enduring connections. however, A major forum for dialogue and teamwork aimed at addressing climate change concerns on the African continent as well as globally is the Africa Climate Summit taking place in Kenya.
