A. R. Rahman Teams Up with Yamaha Music India: Why It Matters

Mumbai (Commonwealth Union): In a major development in the music industry, Yamaha Music India has announced that A. R. Rahman will serve as its brand ambassador. This move forms a key part of the company’s strategy to foster a vibrant music culture across India.

Rahman, an Academy Award-winning composer and globally celebrated artist, is widely credited with introducing Indian music to international audiences. His journey reflects the growing global recognition of Indian talent—a vision that aligns closely with Yamaha’s commitment to nurturing and expanding the country’s music ecosystem.

Speaking about the partnership, Managing Director Yamamoto Taketoshi stated that music has always been central to Yamaha’s philosophy. He emphasized that India’s rich musical heritage deserves greater global visibility and noted that the collaboration with Rahman would inspire young musicians. He also highlighted the company’s “Made in India” initiative, which aims to expand access to high-quality instruments while promoting structured music education across the country.

Ryoji Maruyama, Head of Sales, added that Yamaha’s vision extends beyond selling musical instruments. He pointed to the company’s ongoing efforts to strengthen music communities through seminars, school partnerships, and rural outreach programmes. According to him, partnering with Rahman supports Yamaha’s goal of making music accessible to aspiring musicians from all backgrounds.

Rahman described Yamaha as a brand synonymous with precision and trust. He expressed pride in associating with a company that has a long-standing legacy in music and is now focused on making premium instruments more accessible in India. He also noted that Yamaha’s initiatives are already supporting young musicians through institutions such as the KM Music Conservatory and The Sunshine Orchestra, both of which he is closely involved with. He stressed that continued mentorship and stronger music education systems could help Indian artists achieve greater global recognition.
