Mumbai, India (CWBN)_ The Bollywood veteran actor Dharmendra was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by New Jersey Senate and the General Assembly for his decades of contribution to the Indian cinema. Due to the prevailing COVID-19 restrictions, the award was presented to the 85-year-old legendary star through a video conferencing event.

Initially, New Jersey Senate has planned to invite the Bollywood star to New Jersey to honor him with the Lifetime Achievement Award. But the plan was later dropped due to pandemic travel restrictions. This could also be considered an historic event as this the first honor to an Indian actor by the US state legislature. Actor Dharmendra has been a successful actor in the Bollywood industry for more than a six decades, and his immense contribution to the Indian cinema has been recognized by the US state legislature.

On receiving the honorable award from US state legislature, actor Dharmendra expressed glad and proudly said, “I am extremely happy with this honor and proud to receive this one-of-a-kind award.”

Actor Dharmendra was asked about his experience of working even at the age of 85. The veteran star expressed confidence in his reply. He said, “Camera is my love and the camera loves me. I can self-analyze and I know what I am capable of at this point in my life. When I know I can do it, why shouldn’t I? I am about to work at 85 and I am not playing a buzurg per se in Apne 2. There’s emotion, but also a thrill element to the film.”

On the professional front, the veteran actor is currently working in Anil Sharma’s Apne 2, which is the continuation of the 2007 drama which featured the actor for the first time with his two sons Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. In Apne 2, Dharmendra’s grandson Karan Singh Deol is also joining the cast, thereby bringing the three generations together on the screen.
