Amazon to invest over INR 20,000 crore in Telangana in data centers

       Hyderabad, India (CWBN)_ The Minister for IT and industries K T Rama Rao said on Friday that Amazon Web Services (AWS) has planned to invest $2.77 billion (20,761 crore) to set up multiple data centers in the state of Telangana. KTR said that it is the largest Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) ever made in the history of the state.

       KTR shared the great news in Twitter saying, “Happy to announce the largest FDI in the history of Telangana! After a series of meetings, AWS has finalised investment of ₹20,761 Cr ($ 2.77 Bn) to set up multiple data centers in Telangana. The @AWSCloud Hyd Region is expected to be launched by mid 2022”.

       According to the press release issued by KT Rama Rao, AWS, the cloud platform offered by Amazon Web Services, is investing to set up an AWS region with three Availability Zones (AZs) in the state.

       The press release said that Availability Zones will consists of multiple data centers in different district locations within a single region that are programmed to operate independent of one another with independent power, cooling, physical security and connections via a low-latency network.

       According to the press release, earlier in the year during his Davos visit, the Minister had met officials from AWS and subsequently finalised on the investment in a swift manner.
