SILICON VALLEY, USA (CWBN)_ Two months ago Carl Pei, left OnePlus, the company he had built with Pete Lau and yesterday (9th December) it was announced that he had been able to raise $7 million in funding for a new hardware project he is to be starting up.

Although no details about the new project have been revealed to the public yet, Pei has been able to successfully collect $7 million for from various high profiles in the tech industry including Tony Fadell (Principal at Future Shape and inventor of the iPod), Casey Neistat (YouTuber), Kevin Lin (Co-founder of Twitch), Steve Huffman (Chief executive of Reddit), Liam Casey (Founder and chief executive of PCH), Paddy Cosgrave (Founder of Web Summit) and Josh Buckley (Chief executive of Product Hunt).

For the time being, Pei remains silent about the details on the new project. However, rumours point towards an audio-related hardware venture. Pei stated he intends to use the new capital to set up shop in London, recruit talent and finance product research and development.

Given Pei’s track record of being an instrumental role in the designing of the OnePlus series of phones, many believe that this future venture will lead to great success as well. On Twitter, he told his initial set of investors “Thanks for believing, we’ll try our best.”
