Assisted reproduction shows no issue for kids in the long term

-

Health & Medicine, UK (Commonwealth Union) – Assisted reproduction is the use of medical technology to help couple’s eager achieve pregnancy, but  have been facing obstacles. With advances in reproductive technology, there are now several methods available that can increase the chances of conceiving a child. In this article, we’ll explore some of the most common assisted reproduction techniques and their benefits and risks.

A landmark study has found that there is no difference in psychological wellbeing of family quality or family relationships between children born with the application of assisted reproduction and those who were born naturally at the age 20. But the results have indicated that revealing to children in regards to their biological origins early on prior to their commencement of school can have benefits for family relationships along with a healthy adjustment.

The findings were revealed by researchers who conducted a study at the University of Cambridge. This was the 1st to evaluate the long-term effects of various types of third-party assisted reproduction for parenting as well as child adjustment, and the 1st to evaluate prospectively the impact of the age at which it was revealed to children that they were conceived via egg donation, sperm donation or surrogacy.

The findings were published recently in Developmental Psychology, have pointed out that having no biological link between children and parents in assisted reproduction families has no interference with the formation of positive relationships between them or psychological adjustment during adulthood. These results were consistent with prior evaluations at age 1, 2, 3, 7, 10 and 14.
