women throughout the course of the weekend with 40 exhibitors, inspiring speakers, seminars, meet-and-greets, healthy food and beverages, and networking opportunities. Alicia Fistonich, the founder and CEO of Her Roar, informed the Ministry of Sport that she established the event because, to her knowledge, no other all-female multi-sport festival existed similar to the magnitude of Her Roar.
Fistonich informed the Ministry of Sport, “There was no real event that properly showcased, supported, and uplifted all of the different aspects of women in sport and fitness. Or an event where we could bring them together and simultaneously, support and celebrate them, and that women could compete”. Fistonich added, “The messaging it sends is that women in sports are not going away, it’s getting stronger. The whole environment and the whole cultural part of it is growing. We don’t have to sit in the shadows anymore, and that we can do the things that we were traditionally and historically not able to do. We’re providing a platform for women to be able to share their stories and their journeys, and that’s really critical, there are so many different audiences that just don’t get heard”.
