Backing for entrepreneurs and innovators in Scotland

Europe UK (Commonwealth Union) – In the inaugural year of the program, hundreds of start-ups have received valuable support.

A remarkable 387 tech start-up enterprises in Scotland have benefited from the Techscaler program’s inaugural year. This pioneering initiative, funded by the Scottish Government with a generous allocation of £42 million, stands as the most extensive of its kind in Europe. Its primary mission is to offer free mentoring and guidance to early-stage entrepreneurs.

During the upcoming fiscal year, the program is set to expand further with the launch of its seventh hub in Dumfries. This new addition joins the existing hubs across the nation, reinforcing the Scottish Government’s suppor to fostering innovation in the business sector. Furthermore, the 2023-24 Programme for Government has earmarked an additional £15 million to bolster support for entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds.

First Minister Humza Yousaf recently paid a visit to the Techscaler hub located in Stirling. During his visit, he engaged with start-up owners, gaining a deeper understanding of the program’s impact and potential.

The First Minister expressed his perspective, indicated that the growth of businesses is essential for a thriving Scotland. The government he leads is dedicated to offering all possible assistance to businesses, enabling them to tap into the substantial economic potential that can drive a fair, sustainable, and prosperous economy.

“That is why our Programme for Government is investing in the entrepreneurs of the future, building on the valuable work already taking place within Techscalers.

The First Minister further indicated that Tech start-ups throughout Scotland now enjoy access to top-tier education and mentorship, as well as avenues for peer learning and networking, all thanks to the remarkable Techscalers program. This initiative has positioned Scotland as one of the most welcoming environments for tech start-ups on a global scale.

He also pointed out that they are actively collaborating with businesses to take immediate steps towards fostering sustainable and equitable economic growth across our nation.
