Mumbai, India (CWBN)_ Popular Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone shared a heart-touching note on social media as she celebrated the fifth year anniversary of her blockbuster film Bajirao Mastani released in 2015.

Deepika Padukone shared with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali a touching note on the memories of the film, Bajirao Mastani, along with an unseen image of hers. She played the character Mastani in the movie and also wrote about the importance of that character.

The shared picture was taken behind the scenes which shows Deepika flashing a smile with Bhansali. In heavy ethnic attire, with a dupatta covering her head and a jhumar on her forehead, she looked majestic and beautiful. Wearing a nose ring and several necklaces, she looked royal.

On sharing the unseen picture, Deepika wrote her heartfelt note: “Whether in love or war, Mastani was fuelled by her passion, unafraid to write her own destiny, no matter how perilous the path. She never bowed down and always stood her ground with a fierce dignity and a love so strong that its burning embers seared through every societal constraint, to join both her and her lover’s names, for all of eternity… @ranveersingh @priyankachopra @bhansaliproductions #5YearsOfMastani #5YearsOfBajiraoMastani #BajiraoMastani.”

In the movie, Deepika starred with Ranveer Singh, whom she married later. In the movie, Deepika acted in the role of Mastani and Ranveer acted as Peshwa Bajirao and Priyanka Chopra played the character of his wife, Kashibai. This was the second film where Ranveer and Deepika acted together in Bhansali’s direction, with first being Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela in 2013.

In the mean time, Ranveer expressed his memories by sharing in Instagram the trailer of the film. Some exciting facts about the film are discussed below.

Ranveer and Tanvi Azmi dedicatedly shaved their heads for the sake of their characters in the film. Tanvi was not the first option for her character in the movie. The role was initially tested with other prominent actress such as Dimple Kapadia, Supriya Pathak and even Shabana Azmi.

Priyanka had found her character Kashibai to be one of the most difficult parts of her career, and for that she had to learn Marathi. She had earlier tweeted, “Didn’t even realise how tired I was till I touched my bed.#BajiraoMastani is so intense that I’m depleted!#Kashi is one of my hardest parts!”

At the Shree Chhatrapati Shivaji Sports Complex, Balewadi Stadium, in Pune, the song Gajanana was filmed. For this song, 5000 student volunteers were involved who entered the Guinness Book of World Records by creating a 194-foot version of Ganesha.

The 2015 film Bajirao Mastani was a blockbuster hit across the world and won numerous awards and honors.
