develop the new Mayfield Watford retirement village in Watford, London.

UK is one of the Commonwealth nations that has taken into consideration of the changing demographics of the country and accompanied changes that should be brought about in its physical infrastructure as well as in the Service Sector to cater to its aging population with considerable purchasing powers.

The scope of work under the contract include design and construction of the new retirement village and will construct about 255 one- and two- bedroom apartments.

The company will also construct communal facilities such as swimming pool, restaurant, a health club and a multi-purpose village hall that will be surrounded with green spaces and parking.

Balfour Beatty will construct 180 apartment balconies offsite, thereby reducing the risk of working at height and improve the overall project efficiency.

The early works at the site are already commenced and the main construction works are slated to be completed in 2023.

The pre-construction services work at the project site were finished.

Furthermore, the project is anticipated to create 300 jobs during the peak construction phase.

Audley Group construction director Kevin Hudson said: “The demand for our retirement villages remains at an all-time high, so we are pleased to be able to continue our work with Balfour Beatty.

We know, through our long-term partnership, how the team works to deliver to our high standards.

Across the UK there continues to be a chronic lack of quality retirement housing provision and we are accelerating our growth plans to help meet this demand. Working with quality construction partners like Balfour Beatty helps us redress this balance.”
