Bangladesh mission in Kuala Lumpur begins its journey towards full digitalization

Dhaka, Bangladesh (CU)_ To communicate with the large number of Bangladeshi expatriates residing in Malaysia, the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur opened a virtual network known as BanglaTiger Digital. Service seekers can conveniently obtain free services such as passports, legalization, and work applications by using the website. Through this project, the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur has moved closer to being the first full-fledged digital Mission outside of Bangladesh.

The event’s chief guest was Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, and the event’s special guest was Ms. Mashfee Binte Shams, Secretary (East). The platform, according to the Secretary (East), is a model of digitalization of public service delivery, which is an initiative by the Prime Minister to create a Digital Bangladesh. She said that the High Commission’s well-timed project would help a significant number of expatriates. The event also featured an audiovisual presentation on the site. The event was chaired by Mohammad Khorshed A. Khastagir, Deputy High Commissioner, and Minister of the High Commission, who also delivered the vote of thanks.

Dr. AK Abdul Momen, the foreign minister, launched the new digital network virtually, which will be operated by Dotlines. The High Commission’s technology partner in this venture is Dotlines. According to Momen, the present government has taken several measures at various foreign missions to support Bangladeshi emigrants, who make a major contribution to the country’s economy.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Md. Golam Sarwar along with deputy high commissioner Mohammad Khorshed A. Khastagir and Foreign Ministry Secretary (East) Mashfee Binte Shams also addressed the gathering. Following the inauguration, the High Commissioner held a discussion with representatives of the Diplomatic Correspondents Association of Bangladesh (DCAB). According to Sarwar, in the future, the mission aims to include more services such as mobile telephony, healthcare, and remittance to support the emigrants.
