Barbie paints the World….…..

-

It is needless to say that pink is in the air with the much-anticipated premiere of Barbie the Movie, starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling.

Whether you are in for collectibles or merely to feed your pink addiction, there are some Barbie collaborations you could get your hands on.  These products are available in a handful of shops in Singapore, and some of the most fantastic ones have been rounded up. https://www.asiaone.com/lifestyle/life-pink-barbie-collaborations-get-your-hands-singapore.

Do not forget that apart from being the most famous doll in the world, Barbie is herself a fashion icon.  A doll marketed as a ‘teenage fashion model’ kick-started a decades-long reputation on 9th March 1959, at the American International Toy Fair in New York City.  She was dressed in a black and white zebra striped swimsuit and had her hair in a top knot ponytail, and was reputed to be the ultimate toy fashion doll.

As such it is no surprise that in the lead-up to the live-action global premier of the film, the Barbie marketing machine has turned out a whole host of fashion collaborations and merchandise via lucrative licensing agreements with toy company Mattel.

This is the stuff that dreams are made of ….. girls who imagined themselves sauntering in Barbie’s plastic stiletto heels can now make that dream come true.  Aldo’s sparkly pink capsule collection is a nine-piece limited edition assortment, that brings to life a range of fun styles in women’s footwear and handbags in vibrant hues of pink, bejewelled ‘B’s, charms, rhinestone embellishments and Barbie logos.

One does not need to break the bank to join the Barbie fashion trend.    Barbie-branded tees are available at Cotton On.  The capsule collection from the Australian retailer features twenty pieces that are available in Barbie prints on familiar silhouettes from tees to tanks to graphic fleece hoodies with prices ranging from $ 24.99 – $ 199 for a Barbie Moto jacket, available in stores in limited quantities.   Cute shoe options, including the Jan Jelly Sandals ($29.90) and the Dylan Strappy Mules ($49.99) are offered by Sister brand Rubi.

Two statement-making styles – the all-pink Barbie Classic Clog ($79.95) includes 8 Barbie Jibbitz charms that you could customize while the Barbie Crush Clog ($109.95) includes 7 Barbie Jibbitz charms and is featured with black accents.

Three timepieces are available to choose from – the quirky Watch Ring ($ 269) comes in a flower design, Charlie ($ 469) a customizable timepiece; and Raquel Watch ($ 509) with Barbie icons on the leather strap, including a car, roller skates and bright pink pumps.

This year’s collection includes tees, bags, button-down shirts, skirts, logo hoodies, and even pet apparel for the movie available at Zalora via the brand’s official distributor, zalora.sg.

The star of the show, released by American skate brand Impala comes in the exact neon skates and safety gear actors Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling don in the movie.  The bright pink and yellow Impala Lightspeed Inline Skate – Barbie Bright Yellow ($243) features a durable plastic outer boot with breathable, comfortable padded boot liners.   The capsule includes a protective pack of knee, elbow, and wrist pads for adults ($84) and kids ($76).  You can get the full look with the brand’s pack of 3 socks ($26) available at impalarollerskates.sg.

Kipling has announced, in partnership with Mattel, a new Barbie x Kipling collection, including 8 bags and 2 new bag accessories in Barbie pink.  The lining of the bags features a mix of photorealistic Barbie dolls and logos.  Every bag comes with a Barbie keychain holding her own mini Kipling Abanu bag with the brand’s signature monkey charm.   The limited edition of the Barbie monkey ($69) is available in hot pink fuzz and a white Barbie visor at all Kipling boutiques and Lazada. Not one for heels?  The two limited edition styles inspired by Barbie’s pink universe are available for fans in Singapore and Malaysia.  The designs reimagine Superga’s classic 2750 sneaker silhouette.
