Talvar
Talvar is a 2015 Indian thriller drama film directed by Meghna Gulzar and written by Vishal Bhardwaj. The film was released abroad under the title Guilty. It was produced by Bhardwaj and Vineet Jain and is based on the 2008 double murder case in Noida involving a teenage girl and her family’s servant. The film follows the investigation of a high-profile Aarushi Talwar murder case from three different perspectives: the police investigation, the initial Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe, and an investigation by a different CBI team.
Ugly
Anurag Kashyap wrote, co-produced and directed the 2013 Indian Hindi-language thriller film Ugly. Phantom Films and DAR Motion Pictures co-produced the film. It marks the final cinematic appearance of television star Abir Goswami before his demise in 2013. Ugly follows the tale of struggling actor Rahul Varshney, whose daughter Kali goes missing, and the subsequent events.
Talaash: The Answer Lies within
In Reema Kagti’s Talaash, a detective traumatized by a personal tragedy, his wife’s frantic attempts for closure, the bizarre case of an actor dying in a road accident, and a mysterious sex worker with exceptional insight all discover an improbable link. The movie is all about grief and letting go, as it is an engrossing police procedural. But by valuing soul above the traditional conventions of the thriller genre, she makes the experience achingly heart-breaking. Talaash is a compelling blend of emotion and tension.
Raat Akeli Hai
Nawazuddin Siddiqui deftly assumes the persona of an eccentric police officer investigating the death of a recently married elderly patriarch, culminating in delightful insights and cunning discoveries. The film follows the story of a small-town cop who is tasked with investigating the death of an elderly family member.
Badla
The interesting thing about Badla is Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu’s heated dialogue as the lawyer and the defendant engage in a game of cat-and-mouse. Sujoy Ghosh once again shows off his flair for riddles in this adaptation of the Spanish classic, The Invisible Guest. The plot revolves around a discussion between a lawyer and a businesswoman, in which the latter claims she is being falsely accused of her lover’s death.
Dobaaraa
In Anurag Kashyap’s official adaptation of the ominous Spanish thriller film Mirage, Taapsee Pannu plays an improbable criminal rescuer during a time journey. The film’s energizing and exciting pace and Taapsee’s outstanding performance are reasons to cheer. You keep predicting what will happen next, but the conclusion is always unexpected and intriguing.
