Bihta ESIC hospital gets approval for new medical college

Patna, India (CU)_ The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment, under the leadership of Bhupender Yadav, approved the Bihta ESIC hospital’s application to establish its own medical college. Once it is fully operational, ESIC would be Bihar’s 18th medical college and hospital, along with six private institutions. It was designated as a complete Covid hospital at the time of the first and second waves of the pandemic.

Ram Kripal Yadav, a BJP MP who has long supported the project, described the Centre’s decision as a wonderful gift for the people of Bihar. He expressed gratitude to the prime minister. He said, “I am grateful to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and minister of labour and employment, Bhupender Yadav, for strengthening the medical infrastructure of Bihar and easing the burden on the Patna Medical College and Hospital”.

Yadav was confident about opening the college soon. He added, “While waiting for the Centre’s nod, all the arrangements for starting a medical college had been made. The academic session will start soon.” The BJP MP further mentioned that the medical college and hospital would also serve residents of Patna, Bihta, Ara, and Bhojpur.

Health minister, Mangal Pandey, and BJP MLC, Devesh Kumar, expressed gratitude to the Union government. According to Pandey, the medical college will provide 100 MBBS seats. He added, “Classrooms, hostels, and other important buildings have been constructed. Only the faculty members have to be appointed and new equipment purchased for the laboratories.” In Purnia, a new medical college and hospital with 100 MBBS seats is under progress. Pandey said, “A team of the National Medical Commission has already inspected the upcoming medical college and hospital. Now, we are waiting for its clearance.”
