Biotechnology department secretary appreciates the country for handling Covid well

Mumbai, India (CU)_ According to Dr Renu Swarup, Secretary of the Department of Biotechnology, the COVID-19 pandemic has presented a number of obstacles, but the government has handled them all well.

Dr. Swarup spoke about the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic during an interview with the media. She said, “This COVID-19 pandemic, which has brought so many challenges to us, has brought to the forefront the strength that we have in our science and technology. Our science and technology have responded not just to national but to global challenges. We have responded extremely well”. She added that once the first mutation was discovered, the government established a robust network of labs called the Indian SARS-CoV-2 Genomics Consortium (INSACOG), which was entrusted with examining emerging COVID-19 mutations.
