BMW, Hyundai, Nissan, and Tesla recall these cars due to technical faults

-

UK (Commonwealth) _BMW is recalling more than 100,000 sedans and crossovers because of a higher fire risk, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has said.

A recall for specific 2019–2020 X5, X7, 2020 3 Series Sedan, X6, 2020–2021 7 Series Sedan, 2020 8 Series Convertible, 2020 8 Series Coupe, and 2020 8 Series Gran Coupe cars was announced earlier this month by BMW and the NHTSA.

The warning claims that problems with the starter motor can make it impossible for the vehicle to start, result in an electrical overload, and cause the engine to overheat, which might ignite other engine parts.

Overheating starter motor

On August 1, the NHTSA was notified of the recall, which affects 14 distinct makes and models. It is possible that a starting motor problem affecting about 105,588 automobiles might lead to overheating.

A starter motor failure may cause problems starting some of the impacted automobiles. Repetitive efforts to start the car may result in an electrical overload that causes the motor to overheat, catching flammable elements inside the engine compartment and raising the danger of fire.

Meanwhile, last week saw a number car recalls from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, including alerts for almost 50,000 more recent Hyundai models that may have an unintentional airbag deployment risk.

Are you trying to find out if your car has been subject to any recalls? Owners can search the NHTSA’s database or USA TODAY’s automotive recall database for fresh recalls if their vehicle isn’t on this list. You may use your vehicle identification number to check for recalls on the NHTSA website.

Recall of Hyundai

Hyundai is conducting a recall on 49,719 of its Santa Fe and Santa Fe HEV models from 2024. The car maker stated in the NHTSA report that “the passenger-side second-row bench seat assembly may chafe against the main floor wiring harness and become damaged.” Due to this flaw, the air bags in the car may inadvertently deploy or may not deploy at all in the case of a collision. Unintentional deployment of an air bag may raise the chance of harm. In an accident, there may be a higher chance of harm if an airbag fails to deploy.

To resolve the problem if required, Hyundai dealers will examine, repair, or replace the wiring harness. This recall will be serviced at no cost to the customer. Letters of recall notification are anticipated to be mailed on September 23. Hyundai owners can reach out to customer care by calling 1-855-371-9460. For this recall, Hyundai’s number is 265.

Nissan’s recall

1,188 Nissan 2023 Ariya automobiles are being recalled.

The car maker said in the NHTSA report that “the inverter software may misdiagnose an error which can shut down the EV system and cause a loss of drive power.” A car’s chance of getting into an accident will rise if its drivetrain fails.

Dealers will check the inverter software version and upgrade the software for free. Letters of recall notification are anticipated to be sent by September 9. Tesla recall

A total of 1,849,638 Tesla cars are being recalled. According to the automaker, if the hood is opened, the hood latch assembly could not recognize that the hood is not latching. The NHTSA report said that a car with an unlatched hood that may fully open will impair the driver’s view and raise the possibility of a collision.

To address the problem, Tesla has made a free over-the-air software upgrade available. On September 22, notification letters are anticipated to be sent. Owners can reach out to 1-877-798-3752 for Tesla customer assistance. SB-24-00-012 is Tesla’s recall number.
